Conference Recap

On Monday, June 23, the NNEE Conference kicked off with a vibrant Welcome Reception with our vendors, leading into the Formal Awards Dinner. The evening was a celebration of excellence, where EMANH proudly recognized David Maloof and Jennifer Good of Clark Insurance as Vendor of the Year and Rob Stenger of Simple Energy Partners as Member of the Year. Meanwhile, MEMA honored Hedge Solutions for 25 years of membership and recognized CITGO for 35 years, Adams and Fogg for 65 years, and Daigle Oil. for an impressive 70 years of dedication.

Following dinner, attendees enjoyed drinks outside around the lake while listening to the acoustic duo Quiet Riot Act, creating a perfect end to the evening.

Tuesday, June 24, started with a series of enlightening educational sessions. Steve Piwowarski, Division Administrator for USDOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, kicked off the day with his energetic presentation on “Federal Requirements for Safe and Secure Transportation of Heating Fuels,” Piwowarski highlighted federal requirements that are in place to help home heating fuel dealers and related businesses stay safe and secure as these products make their way through the supply chain.

Following Piwowarski’s insightful talk, Alexandra Rosen, Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the American Trucking Association, gave an insightful presentation on the Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act and the work she and her colleagues have put in to help get this bill to become a law, sharing many of the trials and tribulations that follow this process on Capitol Hill.

Next, Joe Scully, Executive Director of EMANH, moderated a discussion between Jim Collura, President and CEO of the National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI), and Rob Underwood, President of the Energy Marketers of America (EMA) that some of the biggest topics on Capitol Hill that are shaping the Energy sector like Global Tariffs, the cutting of LIHEAP funding, Energy Choice, and more.

The day’s final session featured Coleman Shear, CFA and Founder of Apis Point Energy. Shear pulled back the curtain on managing fuel purchasing and risk mitigation in the energy markets, sharing critical insights on how companies can maximize their profitability, rounding out a day of rich educational content.

Afterward, attendees gathered for a two-hour luncheon cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee aboard the historic M/S Mount Washington. The day concluded with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the lively Vendor Blender, followed by a chance to savor the delightful culinary offerings of Meredith’s many restaurants for dinner on your own.
